The Assembly gave the "green light", here are the new changes to the Highway Code that every driver should know

The Assembly of Albania voted yesterday with a majority of votes the new amendments to the Road Code, passed with the votes of the majority and the opposition, as part of them were also proposed by the Democratic Party.

A positive nature of them stands out, for reducing the amount of fines, removing policemen from the road and some changes for the driving license (licence). Below, some of the changes approved yesterday in the Assembly:

The maximum traffic speed on highways should be no more than 130 km/hour according to European standards.
The suspension of the driving license, in cases where the offender gives consent, is converted by the payment of an amount that is twice the maximum administrative measure provided for the violated norm.
All Albanian citizens residing abroad or foreigners passing through Albania are issued a circulation permit with a maximum duration of 30 days from the current 15 days.
Removal of checkpoint services on all national axes.
If it is paid within 15 days, the value of the fine will be paid with a 50% discount.
It has been requested that 50% of the parking spaces be free of charge
Holders of driving licenses of category B, in the first 2 years of issue, are not allowed to drive motor vehicles with a specific power, referring to the empty weight of the vehicle, greater than 55KW/ton! For hybrid electric or plug-in cars, the specific power limit is 65 KW/ton, including battery weight.
Citizens whose Albanian driver's license has been canceled due to conversion abroad, can regain their Albanian driver's license without testing, directly and if the foreign driver's license has expired, after handing it in and voluntarily giving it up.
Also, some other changes have been foreseen for driving licenses, the deadline for their renewal and conversion for use abroad, such as the extension of the right to exercise the profession for driving school instructors.

Over 70 years old, confirmation of validity is done after submitting the medical certificate

Every 5 years until the age of 70, for people over 65 years of age, it is issued only for driving category B and BE vehicles for taxi and passenger transport with 8+1 vehicle
