"There is a leadership crisis in Europe", Milo analyzes anti-immigrant policies: This country will have a more aggressive approach to the Mediterranean

Written by SOT.COM.AL 26 Nëntor 2022

The former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paskal Milo, commented in the news edition on MCN TV on the attitudes of the Italian Prime Minister Meloni towards illegal immigration and the institutional conflicts within the EU. According to Milos, Meloni will stand firm on the anti-immigrant policies that have created a real problem for Italy that needs to be addressed globally. Milo is of the opinion that Europe needs to discipline immigration like the USA or Canada did. Milo says a leadership crisis is looming in Europe. He also emphasizes that there is a need for a new treaty that defines the competences of the EU institutions.
Every political or government change in European countries also determines changes in attitudes on major issues, and therefore also in foreign policy. Italy has had a problem with illegal immigration for years, especially from North Africa. Meloni is a representative of this current that has held this issue as a banner. As soon as she came to power, in order to maintain her political position and votes, she will definitely stand firm in her anti-immigrant policies. The other side of the problem is what we are seeing on the screen, that Italy is endlessly flooded by waves of immigration from North Africa. This has created problems for everyone. In addition to financial problems, it also creates other problems that are a real concern for Italy. I do not believe that the problem can be solved with one or two meetings of the interior ministers of the EU, France or Italy. It is a global problem and must be treated according to global importance. Big investments need to be made in Africa for people to stay there. Let's not go far, here we are, where this place is being emptied. Young people are leaving because they are looking for a better life, a better treatment that they cannot provide in their country. It has become a trend for the poor to leave, because they don't want to build the future in Albania. They want to get good wages without working. Europe has such policies, it is not a problem for Canada and the USA that have controlled immigration, with a filter, they take as much as they want. Europe also needs to discipline it. Western Europe needs manpower, but it needs to be disciplined. There are no rules, discipline, agreements, with quotas, to regulate the labor force issue in Europe. The goal is to reduce, not eliminate."
Do përpiqet të mbrojë interesat e Italisë brenda kontureve të BE.
Nëse do thellohet, do thellohet kriza institucionale e vet BE.
Germany and France are the pair that have led the process and a rift between them hurts the EU. If the countries of the Western Balkans, including Albania, see the EU institutions as hopeful that they will facilitate the integration process, now when they see that there is an institutional clash, a gap between what is declared and what is done, the credibility of the EU is definitely damaged in the eyes of the people. of the Western Balkans. We hope that this is not true and we will see it more concretely on December 6 when the summit will take place. We will see what they will offer. It is an ideal occasion for EU leaders to come, but with what promise will they come, will they come only with words and statements or will they have official and engaging positions, to do something for the Western Balkans".
