The Institute of Public Health has shared some advice for citizens in these hot days that have swept the country. On Friday, the temperature reached 41 degrees Celsius.

The PHI advises to avoid direct exposure to the sun when it is strongest, usually between 11:00 and 15:00, but even longer depending on where you are.

Staying in the shade is recommended between hours of the most intense ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

The PIH emphasizes that citizens should wear clothing that covers the arms and legs, use wide-brimmed hats to protect the face and neck, and use sunglasses to reduce the risk of eye damage.

It is also recommended to consume as much liquid as possible, mainly water. Avoid very cold drinks, carbonated drinks, with a lot of sugar and other additives, as well as consume frequent food meals, in small quantities, cold and with easily digestible food ingredients.

PIH experts also advise never to use sunscreen to prolong your sun exposure. Use sunscreen with a protection factor (SPF) of at least 30, with UVA and UVB filters. You can use it 30 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply the cream every 2 to 3 hours, not forgetting sensitive areas such as lips and ears.

These above recommendations are also valid for children. "The younger you are, the more vulnerable you are. Babies under 6 months should be kept out of the sun. If you have very pale skin, red hair or freckled face, you are more sensitive to the sun's rays", emphasizes the ISHP.
