Four days after his arrest, the much-wanted Albanian Laert Haxhiu appeared today in front of the court in Ioannina, Greece under heavy security measures. Albania requests extradition for the Lushnja massacre.

The documentation of the Albanian authorities for the extradition of Laert Haxhi will be examined today by the Greek court.

Laert Haxhiu, together with two other Albanians, was arrested on Monday evening in Ioannina as they tried to escape from the Greek police during a car chase.

The 31-year-old from Lushnja was sentenced to 18 years in prison in absentia by the Albanian court.
