"The arrest warrant for Dako was cut on Friday", Artan Hoxha reveals

Investigative journalist Artan Hoxha has provided new details regarding the arrest of the former mayor of Durrës Vangjush Dako.

Invited to "Opinion", Hoxha said that the arrest warrant for Dako was issued on Friday at dinner, but it was executed only on Tuesday.

Asked why the execution of SPAK's order took so many days, Hoxha said that negotiations have taken place.


According to him, during these days there has been a strong battle between political actors and SPAK prosecutors for not arresting Dako.


Excerpt from the interview:

Hoxha: I was informed about the cutting of the arrest warrant on Friday evening. The most important character with political and economic influence, more important than the ministers. Vangjush Dako is the most insignificant man of all. When the decision was given in 2019 for Dako, I said that it was a message for him up there. Dako is not just a mayor, if you see who was waiting for him at the door after the resignation of Saimir Tahiri? It was Vangjush Dako. He is a very important person. He ran the third most important District of the country. Dako in Durrës was not just the mayor, he is the person who was the contact of all interest lobbies in Durrës. In every interception that has been done in Durrës, Dako has been inside. Dako also said yes, they called me, I answered. Vangjush Dako is not a mayor, he is more important than the Minister of the Interior, with the exception of Erjon Velinë. He is a direct relation of Edi Rama.



Fevziu: What happened from Friday to Tuesday?

Hoxha: Negotiations took place, as Dako cannot be arrested so easily. I did a background check as I thought he would not be arrested. Vangjush Dako, apart from 339, is everywhere, he is the key man in Durrës or in Dubai. Who had the contact of Vangjush was someone in Durrës. Should he be arrested or not? For me, with this charge he has is a minimal charge, the security measures are extreme. They had to find extreme accusations to justify this accusation. From Friday until today, there has been a battle between SPAK prosecutors and political actors to avoid arrest. Dako came by himself, he didn't wait to be arrested.
