In the Albanian army, where 8,500 active forces serve, 2,100 reservists will be mobilized. The needs of the time that have produced uncertainty and a climate of tension, after the military invasion of Ukraine by Russia, are directing the Ministry of Defense to reorganize the army.
In the draft law that is being consulted, it is requested that not only former soldiers, but also civilians be included in the reservist forces.
The latter will carry out annual training, lasting from 15 to 45 days, and by special order even longer than this period.
The draft also sets the age threshold for the personnel to be recruited, as well as the authorities and offices that will mobilize these individuals.
The law also has significant financial effects. The initial cost of activation, calculated for 2100 people, will be in the amount of 1.5 billion ALL and the average cost of mobilization for an average time frame of 40 mobilization days per year will be in the amount of 830 million ALL. So, the Ministry of Defense will ask to pay another 2.3 billion lek for reserve personnel.
