A doctor and a technical specialist for making the scanner have been arrested at the Mother Teresa University Hospital Center.

The name of the doctor and the imaging specialist arrested this Friday morning at QSUT are the doctor Nazmi Metaliu and the technician Astrit Masnaku, who were handcuffed because they received money to offer the scanner for patients.

Sources indicate that the doctors had 3 months since an investigation was launched against them for abuse of office.

The police and the investigative team were able to prove with evidence that the doctor and the imaging specialist received money from the patients for performing the scan.

"From the investigative actions, it has emerged that these citizens, in cooperation with each other, during the exercise of their duties, enabled different citizens, against monetary sums, to make the scanner, in violation of the Hospital's regulation, for the performance of this procedure" , it is stated in the police announcement", explained the police.

Finalized as a result of a several-month investigation, followed by proactive methods, the coded police operation "Scanner", for tracking and cracking down on cases of corruption and abuse of office. They took money from the patients, to avoid the standard hospital procedure, for making the scanner, 2 citizens (the doctor and the technician of the Imaging Service at QSUT) were handcuffed.

The specialists of the Section for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes of the DVP Tirana, as a result of a several-month investigation, followed by proactive methods, in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office at the Judicial District Court of Tirana, with the aim of ascertaining cases of corruption and bringing forward criminal responsibility , of their authors, organized and finalized the coded police operation "Scanner". As a result of this operation, the following citizens were arrested:

- NM, 63 years old, resident in Tirana, doctor by profession;

- AM, 51 years old, resident in Tirana, professional imaging technician.

From the investigative actions, it has emerged that these citizens, in cooperation with each other, during the exercise of their duties, enabled different citizens, against monetary amounts, to make the scanner, in violation of the Hospital's regulation, for the performance of this procedure. The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Tirana Judicial District Court for further action.
