Serious/ Albanian woman dies mysteriously in hospital, allegedly raped by Serbian husband and mother-in-law (Details)

A woman from Albania, married to a member of the Serbian community in the village of Hoqë te Madhe in Rahovec, died mysteriously on Saturday. Kosovo media reports today that the incident took place in the Gjakova hospital.

Initially, according to Kosovo media, it was reported that the death of the 51-year-old woman was a result of the physical violence allegedly inflicted by her husband and mother-in-law on the Albanian woman.

But the police version has given another version.

The police station in Gjakovë, on Monday, told the online newspaper Reporteri.net that the victim, a citizen of Albania, had no signs of physical violence. According to them, this was established by the medical report. According to the police, the doctors observed only the consequences of psychological violence by the victim's husband.

"At the time she died in the hospital, she was being treated for other illnesses and not as a result of physical violence by her husband. The victim is not suspected of having had physical violence, as according to the medical report no signs of physical violence were observed, but only psychological violence by the husband," Sheremet Elezaj told the newspaper.

The police itself reported in the 24-hour report dated March 16, 2023 that on March 15, 2023 at around 08:50 the victim had denounced her husband and father-in-law for violence.

 "The victim was sent to the Gjakova Hospital for medical treatment. With the decision of the prosecutor after the interview, the suspects were released and the case goes to regular procedure," the police announced.

 "Regarding the case, on 18.03.2023, while undergoing medical treatment as a result of some health problems, the female victim, a citizen of Albania, died. By decision of the prosecutor, the lifeless body of the victim was sent to the IML for an autopsy," the announcement added.
