A tragic episode was avoided on February 24 of this year in Kosovo. Two passenger planes with 300 people on board risked a collision in the airspace above Ramoc in Gjakova.

KlanKosova writes that it was the Pristina-Malmo line plane, it was the one that almost collided with the line plane coming from Düsseldorf.

According to data released about a month after the incident, the Air Navigation Service Agency had not noticed that the two planes were moving in the same direction.

They were alerted by the controllers of the Republic of Albania, who reported to their colleagues from Kosovo that something was not going well with the planes of "GP Aviation" from Bulgaria and "Trade Air" from Croatia.

"Surprised by this fact, the controllers who had not noticed that the planes were traveling on the same trajectory, were delayed and did not react.

But the accident was fortunately avoided thanks to the radar system inside the plane, TCAS, which is activated only when the planes are headed for a collision," KlanKosova writes.

This alarm system has three alerts, the first is at a distance of 304.8 meters, the second at 243.84 meters and the last one, which actually went off in this case and which only goes off at the most dangerous level close to the collision, that is when the planes are at a distance of 182.88 meters.

An investigation has been launched into the case by the Kosovar authorities, where the two responsible controllers have been suspended until the end of the investigation.
