The general director of Road Transport, Blendi Gonxhe, spoke yesterday about the new changes to the Road Code, which were undertaken with the aim of preventing accidents. In a TV interview, he said that the road code in Albania is behind the times and that to make the changes it needs, a lot of work and studies are needed. Gonxhe said that after the tragic accident near TEG, there was a collective psychosis of young people on TikTok who showed their speeds in the video, which according to him are being identified and tracked. He further added that the accidents of the last few weeks in the country also happened due to some problems like in the case of Kavaja, where a car fell into the canal on a road without barriers or signs, which according to him is the responsibility of the local authorities . "We have had a long discussion with our colleagues, we have been discussing changes in parliamentary committees since July. The code is very large and requires more work with studies and predictions for a strong intervention. Our road code is a bit behind the times, it's a bit backward. We cannot predict what happened in the last weeks. To return to the events of the last few weeks, because they tell a lot.
