"Deti"/ Xhaçka visit to Greece, the media reveal the behind the scenes of the meeting and what Nikos Dendias wants: The signing of an agreement for sending her to The Hague is expected

"Deti"/ Xhaçka visit to Greece, the media reveal the behind the

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Olta Xhaçka, will pay an official visit to Athens today, while she is expected to meet with her counterpart Nikos Dendias.

The Greek media   write that this visit is the existence of a real possibility for signing the document that will refer to the International Court of Justice in The Hague the definition of the EEZ between Greece and Albania.

The Greek newspaper writes that the result of today's meeting will significantly determine the results of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' visit to Albania next week, where, among other things, he is expected to meet with his counterpart Edi Rama in terms of resolving the the dispute.

Mitsotakis and Rama have met several times, such as on the sidelines of the NATO meeting on June 21, but also on other occasions, where the Albanian leader agreed with the need to continue the dialogue to resolve the sea issue.

It is worth noting that since that time no technical level meeting has been held to carry out processes in this direction.

A central issue in the demarcation remains the influence of the Ereikoussa and Othon islands, since the Albanian side does not accept the beginning of the middle line and the full influence of these islands. Greece, however, wants to close its pending settlement of maritime zones with all neighboring countries (except Turkey), especially after the recent Turkey-Libya agreement that revives the continental shelf discussions in the region.

The Prime Minister of the country, Edi Rama, was asked by the media a day ago if he would discuss the issue of the sea during the meeting with the Greek Prime Minister in Tirana, but the head of government said that it is a technical-legal issue and has nothing to do with politics.
