The mega-operation to stop the sale of narcotics near schools, which put 233 people behind bars, has echoed in the international media.

In the nationwide operation in which 3,000 officers participated, 23 criminal groups were destroyed that were suspected of distributing cannabis, cocaine, heroin and ecstasy near schools and universities, writes Abc News .

Furthermore, the international media quotes the Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla: "Albanian parents and families today appreciate the state police and also expect systematic work against criminals of any kind."

After coming to power in 2013, the left-wing government of the Socialist Party of Prime Minister Edi Rama presented the goal of destroying cannabis plants, reports the Associated Press . Over the next two years, it destroyed millions of cannabis plants with a market value of €7 billion, over two-thirds of the annual gross domestic product at the time.

The anti-drug operation arrested 233 distributors of narcotic substances, where over 100 of them carried out criminal activity in the capital and targeted school-aged youth. The strings of the distributors with the small realtors in the schools are being broken through the coded mega-operation "Tempulli".
