From promises to commitments in the middle of a mountain without change
Written by Bardhyl BEJKO 24 Shkurt 2021
Trying to divide words, promises and commitments into two categories, to differentiate them in content and to give them different dimensions as if one is just a word and the other is an act, is like dividing an apple in the middle. Both are pieces of the same fruit and hardly finds any change in ingredient taste, vitamins or texture. Both parts are separate from the same fruit. We referred to a pleasing fruit, such as the apple we all enjoy to avoid negativity if we were to take as an example, a poisoned, bitter or deadly fruit, just as promises or commitments are. It is a well-known two-, three-, ten- or one-thousand-digit ranking when it comes to making promises before the election campaign. What should stand out is that, Serious political forces do not promise the skies and are careful not to muddy everything they say to the citizens in the name of voting and the temptation to bring them closer to the political program. That promises are made and most are never fulfilled, this is not the exclusivity of just one political force and has no Albanian origin. This is the case in most parties in the world, where the river of promises overflows, flooding the general public opinion, who shrug their shoulders and chew them without going through the filters and many times become victims of trust and captives of their political commitment. If we refer to the programs and details that are given to us daily by the chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, without leaving aside the left-wing coalition partner, LSI, Monika Kryemadhi, hears so many promises, It seems that all the technology of the advanced world, production and money in the well-known banks from the European one to the World Bank or the Development Bank, have now opened the gates from where the funds will flow, only to support the DP that runs towards power after eight years in opposition to an extraordinary race, unbridled to show how sensitive they are to resolving the problems of the people. What surprises you is the fact that people are treated as if they are in zero year, without memory, without identity, amorphous crowd, without thought, with brainwashed and for the first time they hear the figures for unlimited salary increases, progress in economy, unlimited scholarships, bonuses for every person, employment of over one hundred thousand citizens, extra payments for political persecutors that will be paid twice, once paid by the socialists, now after April 25 by Democrats, higher pensions, triple economic aid, doctors privileged to receive more money than their counterparts in Germany, Italy or France. Monthly payments for babies. Less social security, up to seven percent discount and triple-digit pensions. Everyone in front of the economic program of Lulzim Basha should feel proud and impatient for what they will benefit and have to get as soon as possible and as much as possible that in this period of pandemic is not known tomorrow. After filling Albania with promises and changing all the paper indicators, Basha, not feeling confident that he had managed to gain the attention and interest of millions of voters, made a rainbow jump that is not just lexical or grammatical, but stylistic conversion in sublime engagements, with unprecedented authority. He addressed the Albanians with the same promises, but this time he labeled them commitments. Basically, both words have the same meaning. They have the lie in the foundation, the deception, because you can wish, who is the one who does not have it, to do wonders, but when you do not have the full bag, can you fill the bag to those to whom it was addressed ?! In this sense, promises lack realism, they are empty, not objective. Just as engagements suffer from the same disease because they stem from the same technology, the deception as you can engage from morning to evening, issue slogans, cover the country with feverish propaganda, but in the end, what measures engagements is reality, evidence, statistics, families, living which does not tolerate and can not be converted into figures on paper, should be translated, with wages, production, development, progress. Otherwise, my lord words, words. Basha's commitments, after abandoning the word promises do not change anything. They remind me of years ago when we were in a village far from the city in Vagalat and wanted as a newspaper team to control the measures taken to feed the cows, the herds, which were the unknown model of the end of the communist system when the economy had taken a downturn. We started all the stables in turn. Inside were glass-eyed cows, lacking food. Instead of alfalfa, hives, corn, grass, silage, the base needed to keep the cows alive, red banners with capital letters were unfurled on all sides of the stable up to the gates, banners of various kinds. Such as: We will provide milk for every family! Tomorrow we will have plenty of meat! Each of the cooperatives will receive milk as needed! We will increase productivity by doubling production! And other texts that fell on his head like lightning in the cloud. All of us, we were stunned. The engagements were so impressive that each of us was surprised and confused. The cows looked like chickens from Andersen's tale that while eating the newspapers, the eggs inside were full of letters. It was up to the cows to give red milk as the meringues were left to eat and the milk the color of the meringues, not white. The villagers put their lips to the gas as they knew better than any of us that the cows only needed milk and nothing else since we had not dealt with them, that the slogans were not equal to food for livestock. The engagements remained there in the red banners that the wind picked up and flew far away, leaving behind the hungry cows. Propaganda could not replace food, they were not equal to grass and alfalfa, corn and fodder. And the cows began to surrender one by one, dying. Not only did the milk not come into the family, but the cows themselves got lost in the bitter winter days. Thus, even Basha's slogans, which he labels as engagements lately to become more credible, have to be wasted, like the red bezels, although their unfolding becomes more comfortable, illustrating them with a color graphic, not on the walls as before, where slogans were written, but on television screens with blinding and dizzying lighting. After filling us with promises, Basha, one day changed strategy. From promising it became engaging. It seems like this increases seriousness and credibility. Citizens need to take it more seriously. To believe without questioning any commitment. But what is the difference from promise to commitment? In the lexical sense there is no difference. It's the same philosophy. The same strategy. It differs only in lexicology and content. Albanian citizens have known over the years the promises of many politicians and are not surprised by the hyperbole that the leader of the Democratic Party does to them, who has only one problem, the seduction of voters. Theft of trust. Yes, Albanians are already used to it and say with their mouths full: Better an egg today than a chicken. Especially since they have been seasoned over the years after trying the promises of the white check, the sea of ??yoghurt, that in our ports from Durrës to Saranda will not stop unloading many tons of ships with products, technology, equipment, machinery. That Albania will become more than Germany! That we would have roads of the world’s best standards and endless promises. Yes, Albanians are accustomed to such broccoli, which is left with only the echo and sound of the voice on the air. If Lulzim Basha or Edi Rama, Monika Kryemadhi, Nard Ndoka, Duka, Dule, Topalli, Patozi, Hajdari, Murrizi and any politician sit on the ground and say what he does and do what he says, then the awareness of the citizens is more great and support will be translated into more votes. Otherwise, be it promises, be they commitments, there are many words, little noise, very little work. Both when promised and when a politician is engaged, Basha in this case, is equally appreciated as they are just words. The difference is keeping the word. Her return to deeds. Time has taught us. As much as we traveled by tram, we came to Tirana by train, we walked on the city streets without potholes, we saw in Tirana, the clock was working, we relaxed in the gardens, we walked on safe paths, we lived in a guaranteed order when he had an obligation, today's engagement, the candidate for prime minister, not commitments, but exact tasks, we will enjoy so much, the promises and the commitments themselves. When you do not have the burden of power on your back and the economy and resources are limited, it seems that you are above the clouds and you can even lower the heavens of happiness among us. So go down to the ground, Mr. Prime Minister, waiting both when you promise and when you commit. You, I believe you know from promises to commitments is just a label in the middle is the same mountain without changes. It is the mountain of accomplishments! When you do not have the burden of power on your back and the economy and resources are limited, it seems to you that you are above the clouds and you can descend the heavens of happiness among us. So go down to the ground, Mr. Prime Minister, waiting both when you promise and when you commit. You, I believe you know from promises to commitments is just a label in the middle is the same mountain without changes. It is the mountain of accomplishments!
